Who is my brother, who is my sister

We would like to thank everyone for their patience they have exercised with us. Forgive us for the phone calls that were delayed being made and those calls that were delayed being returned. Some of our very close friends have been undergoing a very tremendous tragedy. My wife and I have been doing all we can to help them endure through and I feel in some way they are trying to help us as well. We are truly rallying together to help each other get through.

Just as we experienced the bonding of our loved ones at the baby shower which was given last weekend, we also are experiencing the very opposite end of the spectrum as far as circumstances, however the support and love is ever present and in many ways exactly the same. What a glorious day it will be when our differences are downplayed and we as the human race look at each other as brothers and sisters. Brothers and sisters to be protected cared for, cherished and respected. This is not a late 60s early 70s hippies philosophy. This is a biblical teaching. I’m convinced everyday that I have not been appointed judge and that there is but one Judge of whom we will all be judged. Let’s all conduct our lives with expectation that there is a better reward. Let’s have patience and love for one another and when we’ve done all we can, then let us get up another day and do it all over again for each other.

Remember God is love.

Coming together

October 5, 2009

IMG_1823Last Saturday my wife helped prepare, and I attended a baby shower for one of our church members. This was my first ever baby shower and I had only a faint clue of what went on at such events. I must say the turn out was great and a handful of men did attend, we even got involved in a few games.

The thing that is most impressive was how the women of our church and the young ladies friends rallied around her, supported her and made this an extremely joyous event for her. The fact that the recipient enjoyed herself caused the joy to radiate to us all. There was no condemnation, every word that was spoken was on a positive and inspiring note. The birth of a child is a joyous and welcome occassion and I was rendered totally breathless how we as people can come together and support one another. I pray that as my days continue, I witness an increase of such love and support from and then towards all of Gods people.

It’s not that serious !

September 28, 2009

The other day my wife was telling me about a conversation she was having with a few of the young ladies at the school where she teaches. The conversation involved a popular song on the radio these days and the actual words of the song. As my wife related the true meaning of what was said in the song ( many songs have an internal message ) the youths stated “Mrs Harris, it’s not that serious…”.
The moral decline in our land is that serious. The moral decline in our pop music, on the television and even in our written literature is that serious. Driven by the need to increase revenue, media outlets are allowing those that have microphones, or a video camera aimed on them, to have more and more freedom to do the outrageous. The mandate seems to be do whatever you need to do in order to get the public attention.
Great will be the day when we, the followers of Christ make a choice to be that light of the world not to be hid under a basket. Making a change is not easy, but it is necessary. We need to live up to our potential and be about our Fathers business. It is that serious!

Hello world!

September 22, 2009

We’ve let the infiltration of the world seep too far into our spirit. The first thing we all need to do is to open our minds and hearts to the idea that the way we may have seen things in the past may not have been good or good for us. Change that is for the better is also known as growth. If we are not experiencing growth we are not living up to our potential. If we aren’t experiencing change we are not experiencing all that God has for us. There is so much God has for us, he only needs us to grow into it. There are so many blessings that we are not ready for just yet and that is the reason God needs us to grow into them. Remember to make this a day to be ready and open to positive change. Without reception to change true growth is not possible. Stay in prayer.
